Home Alone!

Last weekend I had the unusual experience of being home alone. I had the house to myself from lunch time Friday to lunch time Sunday, and it was both awesome and weird.

My family is very loud, so being alone was a big adjustment, noise wise. There was no TV on, no one stomping up and down hallways or loud conversations taking place all around the house. There was also no lawn mowing or yard work happening.

As much as I loved the quiet, it go very strange at night, I heard every noise, from street noise, animals and even the pipes and house noises.

The plus side with having the house to myself was that I slept really when and I could do what I wanted when I wanted. I bounced between the computer, the TV and reading without even having to think about it. I was also able to use the bathroom whenever I felt like it. In my house, that is a big deal.

One of the best things about having the house to myself was productivity. I got more done in two days with the house to myself then I get done in a week when my family is home.

I guess not having anyone to talk to and having free range to do what I please make being productive easy.

As much as I loved the quiet and being productive, im glad that my family don’t go away very often. After growing up with a large , loud family, being alone is, well, lonely.

I am happy to have a chaotic house again but I am sure I will get sick of that soon enough.

So next time my family go away, I will remember to be productive and enjoy the quiet. And when I have a house full of people I will remember to enjoying it and not resent the lack of peace and privacy.
